Bio

Véronique Basile Hébert is an Atikamekw theatre artist from the Wemotaci First Nation. A doctoral student in arts theatre and practice at the Université de Québec à Montréal, she has a Bachelor's Degree in theatre from the University of Ottawa and a Master’s Degree in drama, focussed on shamanism in the work of Jovette Marchessault. Having studied in the Indigenous Theatre program at the National Theatre School of Canada, she also created streetheatre as part of the Montreal First Peoples’ Festival. She produces works in Indigenous communities and works with multiple theatre companies. Inspired by nature and by her culture, she writes, directs, and performs her pieces with a diverse range of artists. Her theatre is committed to engaging with her interests as an Indigenous person, as a woman, and as an artist.
